Choppy Seas Today, Along With A Moderate Rip Current Risk

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ - The National Weather Service is calling for pretty choppy seas today, with waves of 3 to 4 feet and a moderate risk of rip currents.

If you are planning on swimming, be sure to check with your local beach patrol about any problem areas. The Beach Haven Beach Patrol has already enforced a knee-deep restriction on swimmers. Never, ever swim alone or at night and never swim on an unguarded beach. The NWS suggest you bring a flotation device with you. There have been a number of ocean drownings this summer. You don't want to add your name to the list.

The ocean water temperature is 77 degrees. That may vary, depending upon what beach you swim at. Swells will be from the east at 3 feet.

Highs will only be in the mid 70s. The good news is there is no lightning threat. Winds will be from the northeast at 10 miles per hour. The ultraviolet index is an 8, which the NWS considers very high, despite the clouds. Don't forget the sunscreen.

Low tide at Belmar arrived at 9:24 a.m. High tide will arrive at 3:40 p.m., followed by another low tide at 10:11 p.m.Subscribe
