Dr. Plamen Kossev Of West Long Branch Dies At 54

A Memorial Visitation for pathologist at Monmouth Medical Center will be held on Tuesday.

Dr. Plamen Kossev of West Long Branch passed away on Thursday July 20, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ with his loving family by his side. He was 54.

Plamen was born and raised in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and then moved to Canada in 1989 before moving to the United States in 1998. He was a professor of Hemopathology at University of Pennsylvania until 2004 at which time he became an associate of the Pathology Department at Monmouth Medical Center.

Plamen loved anything to do with action, whether it was driving a fast car, watching action movies or boxing events. He was a very social person who had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. Plamen was highly regarded for his principles by which he lived. He enjoyed and was dedicated to teaching new residents.

Plamen is survived by his wife Natalia Genkova of West Long Branch; his parents Mihail and Anka Kossev of Canada; his children Mihail Kossev of Bulgaria and Annabel Kossev of Brielle and their mother Viliana Kossev, MD, also of Brielle. Plamen is also survived by a brother Dr. Vilian Kossev of Oakland, CA and his aunts, Boyana Jackson of Emoryville, CA and Kostadinka Arissian of Bulgaria.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25 at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ.
