8-Month GSP Project At Rt. 36 In Tinton Falls Starts Tuesday Night

TINTON FALLS, NJ — Major construction work over eight months will impact traffic patterns from Route 36 to the southbound Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls.

The ramp from Route 36 to the southbound Parkway in Tinton Falls will be closed for about eight months starting next week as work on the bridges at Interchange 105 advances, according to Thomas Feeney of the NJ Turnpike/Garden State Parkway Authority.

The southbound entrance ramp is scheduled to close at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, and remain closed until mid-May 2023. Detour signs will be posted to help drivers access the southbound Parkway by other routes.

The work necessary to close the ramp is weather-dependent and could be postponed in the event of rain on Tuesday night.

Also scheduled to begin next week are several short-term, overnight closures of the ramp from the southbound local roadway.

The first of them is scheduled to run from 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7. The 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. closures, which will continue for six consecutive days, are being done to facilitate the demolition of one of the bridges on the southbound entrance ramp.

Five bridges on entrance and exit ramps at Interchange 105 are being replaced or repaired under a $17 million construction contract awarded to Earle Asphalt in September 2021.

Two ramps– the southbound exit ramp from the express roadway and the northbound entrance ramp to the express roadway – have been closed since March for the first phase of the construction. Work on the bridges on those ramps is scheduled to be finished by the end of the year.
