Long Branch-Eatontown Expected To Get 6-12 Inches Of Snow

LONG BRANCH, NJ — Monmouth County is right in the middle of a blizzard that will be starting around 9 p.m. Friday and will continue through Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Monmouth County is expected to get anywhere from six to 15 inches of snow. This storm will be accompanied by strong winds, poor visibility and possible coastal flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, blizzard conditions are expected near the coast with strong wind gusts, reduced visibility and snowfall. The National Weather Service specifically mentioned Sandy Hook as vulnerable to blizzard conditions.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from 3:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Saturday.

Please be ready to hunker down and stay off the roads. Monmouth County DPW crews spent Friday applying salt brine and magnesium chloride-treated rock salt in advance of the storm.

“We are facing a very serious storm with the potential for a significant number of power outages due to forecasted substantial snow and high winds” said New Jersey Board of Public Utilities President Joseph Fiordaliso. “If you lose power we urge you to call your utility to report it. Don’t count on anyone else reporting it for you."
