Long Branch To Repair Sidewalks And More Along Long Branch Ave.

The state of New Jersey allocated $161 million to more than 500 towns, including Long Branch and Eatontown, for road repairs.

LONG BRANCH, NJ — The state of New Jersey recently allocated a total of $161 million to more than 500 towns for road repairs and improvements.

Long Branch will receive $290,000 to make pedestrian safety improvements to Long Branch Avenue.

The work will be done on Long Branch Avenue between South Broadway and Joline Avenue, said a city spokeswoman. The scope will include restoration of deteriorating concrete walks and curbs, safety improvements such as updating curb ramps to comply with ADA requirements, resetting of existing stormwater utilities, drainage improvements and pavement resurfacing.

As Patch previously reported, the private developer of the Ocean Gate project, Green Field, also contributed $470,000 for drainage improvements related to Ocean Blvd. at Cooper Avenue.

Eatontown will receive $340,000 to do resurfacing on Industrial Way West.

Both projects will take place some time in 2021; an exact date has not been given yet.

Under the Municipal Aid grant program, each county is allocated a share of the total funding based on population and the number of local centerline miles, according to the governor's office. Municipalities compete for portions of their county's share.
