HOLLYWOOD — A who's who of movie stars appeared Feb. 9 at the Academy Awards. But an Elberon native was behind one of the Oscar-winning films.

Sorya Sean Serei contributed to "Ford v Ferrari," which won the Oscars for best film editing and sound editing. Serei worked as a lead motion capture technical director for Motion Studios on the film.

Motion Studios delivered more than 700 shots for the film. A lead motion capture technical director runs and organizes motion-capture shoots for a film in which they take the actors' performances and apply CGI.

Serei graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a master's in visual effects. The university had 230 alumni who contributed to this year's Academy Award-nominated films.

“Our students work in an environment of collaboration where the classroom is a living model of the industry,” said Andra Reeve-Rabb, dean of the SCAD School of Entertainment Arts. “Cutting edge facilities, equipment and mentorship by Oscar winning professors elevate student experience and creative content."
