Man Killed On Motorized Scooter, Ocean Twp. Police Cruiser Involved

A man riding a motorized scooter was killed in a car accident involving multiple cars Monday, one of which was an Ocean Twp. police​ car.

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man riding a motorized scooter was killed in a car accident involving multiple cars Monday, one of which was an Ocean Township police vehicle, announced the NJ Attorney General’s office.

This happened at approximately 9:08 p.m. Monday on Rt. 35 south, near Sunset Avenue.

An on-duty Ocean Township police officer and multiple civilian cars were involved in an accident, resulting in the death of a man operating a motorized scooter on Rt. 35 southbound.

The man was pronounced deceased on scene; his identity was not released. The involved officer and other drivers did not sustain injuries.

The AG's office will continue to investigate.
