Monmouth Medical Center Gets 'A' Grade In Leapfrog 2021 Ranking

LONG BRANCH, NJ — For the fourteenth year in a row, Monmouth Medical Center received an "A" grade in patient safety and has been named one of the nation's top teaching hospitals by The Leapfrog Group.

The 2021 Leapfrog hospital ratings were just announced Tuesday. Leapfrog Group is an independent hospital watchdog organization. Receiving a top Leapfrog grade is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive.

Among thousands of hospitals across the United States, Monmouth Medical Center was included in their list of the nation's 72 best teaching hospitals.

Monmouth Medical Center is where third and fourth year medical students from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School train. Monmouth Medical Center is part of the RWJ-Barnabas healthcare system.

Monmouth Medical Center trains residents and fellows in Dental Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pathology, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Diagnostic Radiology and General Surgery. It is ranked 29th among the 50 best major teaching hospitals in the United States by Washington Monthly.

Monmouth Medical Center's history as a training ground for medical students started in 1945, when the hospital established its first residency program in orthopaedics – the first such program in New Jersey – to meet the needs of physicians returning from World War II trained in treating battlefield trauma.
