Monmouth Medical Center Named One Of America's Best Hospitals

LONG BRANCH, NJ — Monmouth Medical Center, located in Long Branch, was just named to a list of the Best Hospitals in America by the digital platform Money.com, a personal finance website.

Monmouth Medical Center was ranked among the 148 best hospitals in the nation on their list, published July 6. You can see their list here; Monmouth Medical was classified as a "small teaching hospital."

Monmouth Medical Center is one of New Jersey's largest academic medical centers and is a training ground for Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/Rutgers University. It is owned by RWJ Barnabas Health.

Many hospitals in New Jersey made their list of the best hospitals in America. In fact, out of all of 50 states, New Jersey dominated their list, a testament to how strong the healthcare field is in New Jersey/the New York tri-state area:

Money.com created their rankings in partnership with The Leapfrog Group, a national healthcare watchdog. To even qualify for the list, eligible hospitals were required to carry an "A" letter grade on the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessment for fall 2021.

Monmouth Medical has received "A" grades from Leapfrog every year for the past seven years.

Money.com did not rank the 148 hospitals from best to worst; these 148 are simply considered the best hospitals in the United States.

Among the criteria that weighed heavily in their selection process was a hospital's infection rates, maternity care, pediatrics, medication management, hand hygiene practices, nursing workforce and critical care. Leapfrog also tracked the number of high-risk surgeries, including bariatric surgery for weight loss, lung cancer surgery, and hip replacement surgery, among others.
