After living in her Bradley Beach, N.J., home for more than three decades, Denise Amitrani realized she needed a change. Scheduling a visit and tour at Seabrook, she discovered the Erickson Senior Living community in Tinton Falls, N.J., was the perfect place to call home. "Other places just didn't hold a candle to what Seabrook offered," she says.

A great value

Before making the decision to move to Seabrook nine years ago, Denise researched several senior living options and analyzed her annual expenses. She learned that Seabrook's monthly service package fell in line with her current expenditures while also providing predictability.

The monthly service package includes utilities (except cell phone); flexible dining plans in Seabrook's restaurants; heating and air-conditioning; maintenance, including repair and replacement of appliances; fitness center and swimming pool; regularly scheduled transportation; and 24-hour security and emergency response.

"I know exactly what I'm going to pay every month, and there are no surprises," says Denise. "If something breaks, I don't have to pay to fix it. I know exactly what my expenses are for the year."

Maintenance-free living

One of Denise's main considerations in deciding to sell her house was the constant maintenance and repairs required. "I loved my house, but I was tired of taking care of it," she says. "I decided there was no better time to come to Seabrook."

Since her move, Denise no longer worries about costly repairs. Instead, she calls General Services and a Seabrook team member responds and takes care of whatever she needs.

"There's no need to find a repairman," says Seabrook Executive Director Jen McNamara. "Instead, a staff member, someone the resident knows, responds quickly to assess needs, fix issues, and relieve them of worry."

Safe and secure

Since her move, Denise appreciates having an onsite medical center offering primary care, sick visits, and laboratory services. Specialists including cardiologists and podiatrists also visit Seabrook regularly. Residents also enjoy the convenience of an onsite pharmacy for over-the-counter medications and prescriptions.

She also likes that Seabrook's security team members are trained in emergency management and available around the clock.

A smart financial decision

The value at Seabrook is unmatched, says McNamara.

"If you price everything included in the Seabrook lifestyle, the value of the monthly service package is unbelievable," she says. "There's no way to replicate everything that is available. Moving here is the smartest financial decision you can make while also positively impacting your quality of life. At the end of the day, it's an investment in yourself and your health. Our residents live better, healthier lives."

Denise also attributes Seabrook's industry-leading 90% refundable entrance fee* and Home for Life promise for influencing her decision. The Home for Life promise, fulfilled through the Resident Care Fund, provides financial assistance to those who, through no fault of their own, outlive their resources.

"It's a safety net for me," says Denise. "It helps me feel secure and was a big factor in my decision. Seabrook truly is a home for life."

Seabrook Finance Director Neal Fiore notes that Denise isn't the only resident who appreciates the promise. "Knowing they will never be asked to leave for financial reasons gives all residents and their loved ones additional peace of mind."

An active lifestyle

Unlike friends who delayed for decades before moving to a retirement community, Denise decided not to wait. Because she only wanted to move once, she intentionally chose the continuing care retirement community instead of a 55-plus community.

"It made perfect sense to move to Seabrook," she says. "Some of my friends told me I was too young, but they couldn't have been more wrong."

Since her move, Denise continues to spend time with her friends in Bradley Beach while also making lots of new friends. From the over 100 groups and activities, she handpicked those that aligned with her interests. She joined the square-dancing group, exercises biweekly in the fitness center, and is learning mah-jongg. Denise also runs a progressive thinkers' group and volunteers on the Resident Advisory Council (RAC), serving as a finance committee member and cochair of the safety committee.

"When Erickson Senior Living promotes their communities as worry-free, it is absolutely true," says Denise. "I no longer worry about anything. I have a beautiful apartment and access to my deposit, if needed. I'm financially secure and living my life to the fullest."
