LONG BRANCH, NJ - The Inkwell Coffee House, a Long Branch fixture for over six decades, has announced its permanent closure.

Operating since the 1960’s and upheld by a community of regulars, the coffee house announced the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

It “saddens us to say the good times have come to an end. We want to thank everyone for all the love and support over the years,” the coffee house wrote. “We will miss our #dutcharmy. Get sick, stay well, hang around the Inkwell.”

“Can y’all send me the Dutch coffee recipe then,” another asked.

“Worst thing that’s ever happened to me,” yet another Instagram user said.

Bruce Springsteen once frequented the coffee house, NJ.com reported, and was living in a bungalow near Inkwell’s first location when he wrote “Born To Run.”

Director and famed New Jerseyan Kevin Smith also praised the location via Twitter.

“Aging always sucks, but nobody wants to out-live their favorite restaurant,” Smith wrote. “The Inkwell is closing. I don’t recognize this world anymore...”

It was not immediately clear as of Friday morning when Inkwell is set to close.
