Rip Current Risk Drops At Monmouth County Beaches

Waves will be around 3 feet, with southeasterly swells of 2 to 3 feet, National Weather Service says

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ - The rip current risk at Monmouth County beaches is low today, probably the first time all month it hasn't been higher.

Waves will be around 3 feet, with southeasterly swells of 2 to 3 feet. The ocean water temperature has dropped to 71 degrees, cooler than it has been all week. But ocean temperatures can change, depending on what beach you go to.

But rips can still occur, anytime, anyplace, especially near jetties and other structures.. So check with your local beach patrol about any problem areas before going swimming. The NWS advises you to always bring a flotation device with you in the water.
