Seabrook Presents Whiffenpoofs on February 11

Seabrook will present the Yale Whiffenpoofs, the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group, on February 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Town Square Auditorium. The concert is open to the public, and seating is first -come, first-served. Tickets are available at the door the night of the performance for $10 (check only). Seabrook, an active continuing care retirement community, is located at 3000 Essex Road in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.

Every year, 14 senior Yale men are selected to be in the Whiffenpoofs. Founded in 1909, the "Whiffs" began as a senior quartet that met for weekly concerts at Mory's Temple Bar, the famous Yale tavern. Today, the group has become one of Yale's most celebrated traditions.

The Whiffenpoofs repertoire draws upon musical arrangements that span a century of Broadway show-tunes, Motown classics, jazz standards, traditional selections from Yale's songbook, and original compositions. The signature song, "The Whiffenpoof Song," has been recorded by such artists as Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald (made an honorary Whiffenpoof in 1979) and Elvis Presley.
