LONG BRANCH, NJ — This September, twelve new electric car chargers are coming to Monmouth County, and six of them will be installed at Seven Presidents Park in Long Branch.

The other six will be installed in downtown Freehold by the Hall of Records and the County Health Department building. These will be dual port level chargers for electric vehicles such as a Tesla.

Monmouth County announced the news Tuesday.

However, the county says it does not have a date when the car chargers will be installed, or when they will be up and running.

The electric car chargers were provided through a grant from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to promote electric vehicle adoption and tourism. New Jersey's "electric vehicle tourism program" provides funding for chargers at tourist locations across the state — and Seven Presidents' Oceanfront Park is one of those tourist sites.

Installation and availability of the charging stations will be announced at a later date.
