A Sunny Day Ahead At Monmouth County Beaches

The rip current risk is low, waves will be around 3 feet, National Weather Service says.

MONMOUTH COUNTY - If you're lucky enough to have the day off, take advantage of the beautiful (finally) summer weather at Monmouth County beaches.

Skies will be sunny. Temperatures will be cool, with highs only in the upper 70s. Winds will be from the northwest at 10 miles per hour. There is no lightning threat, the National Weather Service says.

The rip current risk is low today. But remember that rips are always possible, especially near jetties and other structures. Be sure to checkwith your local beach patrol about any problem areas. Never, ever swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS advises swimmers to always bring a flotation device with them in the water.

Waves will be about 3 feet high, with southerly swells of around 2 feet. The ocean water temperature is 74 degrees, although that may vary depending upon what beach you visit. The ultraviolet index is a 7, which the NWS considers high, so bring the sunscreen.

Low tide at Belmar arrived at 11:49 a.m. High tide will roll in at 6:14 p.m.
