The rip current risk for today is moderate, but seas will be fairly calm, National Weather Service says

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies today with a moderate risk of rip currents at Monmouth County beaches.

Be sure to check with your local beach patrols about any problem areas. Rip currents can occur any time, any place, especially near jetties, groins and other structures. Never, ever swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night.

Waves today will be about 2 feet high, with light swells. The ocean water temperature is 77 degrees, although that may vary from beach to beach. The National Weather Service suggests you always bring a flotation device with you in the water.
