Three New Board Members Named To Fulfill Food Bank

Fulfill is the food bank that brought to light the story of the third grade girl who confessed to her Zoom class she was starving this year.

NEPTUNE, NJ – Three new board members were just named to the board of trustees at Fulfill Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean counties. They are Sandy Broughton, Susan Kyrillos and Joseph Stroffolino III.

Lauren Holman is Fulfill’s Board Chair.

Former NJ Lt. Governor and Republican governor candidate (she lost to Phil Murphy) Kim Guadagno used to be the CEO of Fulfill Food Bank, until she was ousted from the job this past spring, after she clashed with the all-Republican Monmouth County Board of Commissioners.

Fulfill is also the food bank that brought to light the story of the 9-year-old third grade girl from a Jersey Shore town who started crying in the middle of a virtual class in February of 2021.

The girl did not have enough to eat in her home, as her mother, a single mom, lost her job when the pandemic hit. Her school had been virtual for the entire year and therefore the girl no longer received the free school breakfasts and lunches she would have qualified for. Read that story: Monmouth Co. Hunger soared in the pandemic and after the government ordered shutdowns of private businesses and many employees to stay home. Thousands of people also lost their jobs.
Pre-pandemic, Fulfill was feeding 136,000 people, including 50,000 children. Today, Fulfill is feeding 215,000 people, including 70,000 children.

Fulfill served 3.8 million more meals since the coronavirus crisis affected the Jersey Shore, and the demand for food increased 40 percent.

She is the principal of SK Partners, a business development and public affairs consulting firm, and is affiliated with Migdon Allen Associates, a boutique employee benefits firm.
