Victim ID'd In Fatal Route 35 Crash With Ocean Twp. Police Cruiser

The April 15 crash of a motorized scooter and multiple vehicles in Ocean Township remains under investigation, the NJ Attorney General said.

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — An Ocean County man has been identified as the person killed in a crash on Route 35 in Monmouth County involving a police cruiser, authorities said Wednesday.

Guyvenson Innocent, 35, of Beachwood, was riding a motorized scooter on Route 35 south near Sunset Avenue in Ocean Township when the crash happened, the state Attorney General's Office announced.

According to the preliminary investigation, at 9:08 p.m. on April 15, Ocean Township Police Officer Ryan Deceglie was on duty when his marked department vehicle and multiple civilian vehicles were involved in an accident that killed Innocent, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the attorney general's office said.

Deceglie and the other involved drivers were uninjured, the attorney general's office said.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time, the office said.
