Local Gardens Topic of Talk at W.T. Public Library

Master Gardener Bill Moran will discuss the many public gardens located within a short driving distance of Long Valley.

LONG VALLEY -- On Saturday, April 27, Washington Township Public Library will welcome Rutgers Master Gardener Bill Moran for "Great Estates to Public Gardens." What may be a surprise to many Morris County residents is that within a short driving distance there are hundreds of public gardens. Most of them are free and offer an incredible variety of plants and designs. In some instances these gardens were once part of a private estate and the original mansion may be open for viewing. This presentation covers a range of gardens from pocket size to multi-acre arboretums. Pictures are shown of each garden along with access information and the speaker’s highly subjective rating. A list of all local gardens will be distributed. This program is provided through the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Morris County. Registration is requested at wtpl.org or by calling the library at 908-876-3596. Washington Township Public Library is located at 37 E. Springtown Rd., Long Valley, NJ 07853.
