West Morris Regional Schools Calendar For 2024-25: Key Dates To Know

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Summer is almost over for about 2,100 students in the West Morris Regional High School District. The first day of class at both high schools is Wednesday, Aug. 21.

After finishing eighth grade, public school students from Chester Borough, Chester Township, Mendham Borough, and Mendham Township go to West Morris Mendham, while students from Washington Township attend West Morris Central.

Work is ongoing at West Morris Mendham on the public address system, and both schools are slated for renovations of shower and storage facilities at their field houses after the fall sports season.

Voters approved a $26 million referendum last November for upgrades at both buildings, which also include making all classrooms air conditioned, cafeteria and kitchen improvements, roof and parking lot repairs, and updates to both schools' technology labs.

Here are some of the important 2024-25 school year dates to get on the calendar:

• First day of school: Wednesday, Aug. 21
• Labor Day, no school: Monday, Sept. 2
• West Morris Mendham professional development day for teachers, delayed opening for students: Friday, Sept. 13
• West Morris Central delayed opening for students: Friday, Sept. 13
• West Morris Mendham delayed opening for students: Friday, Sept. 20
• West Morris Central professional development day for teachers, delayed opening for students: Friday, Sept. 20
• Rosh Hashanah, no school: Thursday, Oct. 3
• Delayed opening for freshman and seniors only: Wednesday, Oct. 9
• Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 5
• NJEA Convention, no school: Thursday, Nov. 7 and Friday, Nov. 8
• Half day: Wednesday, Nov. 27
• Thanksgiving break: Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29
• Half day: Friday, Dec. 20
