MAHWAH, NJ — The Mahwah library has a host of rich cultural events and discussions planned for adults and kids.

On Wednesday night, they scheduled a seminar, both in person and via Zoom, on censorship with TV historian Evan Weiner. The topic was popular enough that it sold out.

They've got a lot more planned for adults, teens, babies, seniors, and more, including a new production of a radio play that caused a panic in New Jersey in 1938.

When Orson Welles narrated the radio drama "War of the Worlds" in 1938 as a "news bulletin," people thought an alien invasion was in progress and prepared to evacuate.

A modern version of the play, which is set in Grover Mills, NJ, will be performed by Raconteur Radio, which stages theatrical presentations of vintage radio plays around the Tri-State area. They will wear period costumes for the performance.

As of Wednesday, there were 59 seats left for the performance.

The day before, on Saturday, an Elvis tribute artist will lead a "musical history lesson."

The library says, "Ruben Castillo, an award-winning Elvis Tribute Artist, guides audiences through time periods in U.S. and world history between 1957-1959, touching upon key moments that shaped our planet today."

The show starts at 2 p.m. Saturday and is recommended for adults. Find out more here.
