"With the ongoing uncertainty of today’s times, we wanted to continue the new tradition of an event that would embrace the creativity and spirit of all Township residents throughout Mahwah while still adhering to the health guidelines during this pandemic," the committee said.

The Contest will consist of three winners from each of the six sections of town, for a total of 18 winners. The six sections will be broken out by Township Recycling Zone.

Judging will take place the week of Dec. 12, and there will be three judges assigned to each section. Homeowners don’t need to be home when judging takes place.

Winners will be announced on Dec. 18.

Prizes will be awarded for best lighting display on houses and property. Prizes are gift certificates to local restaurants. The first place winner will take home $100 in gift certifcates, $50 for second place and $25 for third.

From the committee: "All houses willing to participate can sign up now to December 6th and agree that their names and photos of their homes may be published on the town website."
