Mahwah Museum Hosts 'Mail on the Move in Mahwah' April 19

The talk will discuss the US Post Office and mail delivery in Mahwah, beginning with the stagecoaches in the 1800s.

On Sunday, April 19 at 1:15 p.m., Mahwah Township Historian Carol Wehran Greene will present “Mail on the Move in Mahwah” at the Mahwah Museum.

In her talk, Carol Wehran Greene, author of “The Ramapough Chronicles” and “Images of Mahwah,” will discuss the US Post Office and mail delivery in Mahwah, from stagecoaches in the 1800s through delivery of mail by the railroads, RFD in rural areas like Mahwah, airmail in the 1940s, Mahwah’s new post office in the 1960s, and the role of the post office today. Time for questions and discussion will be allotted afterwards.

Carol Greene is a founding member and Trustee Emeritus of the Mahwah Museum. She is also a board member of the Mahwah Preservation Commission, and is active in the Northwest Bergen County History Coalition, and several other Bergen County historical societies.
