HACKENSACK, NJ — Facticerie, an exhibition showcasing Sudhir Gupta's world-record-holding collection of perfume bottles, known as factices, has opened to the public at 70 1st Street in Hackensack, New Jersey, a recent news release said.

Founder and collector Sudhir Gupta has spent more than 30 years collecting these exquisite, oversized bottles, which have been used in store displays around the world.

Facticerie features more than 3,000 factices valued at $2,000 to $100,000 each, from venerable fragrance houses such as Guerlain, Caron, Dior, Chanel and Estée Lauder.

Gupta's exhibit commemorates his June 8 induction into the Guinness Book of World Records for the world's largest factice collection. His collection is displayed to the public for the first time in its entirety in Hackensack, the news release said.

Among the exhibit's highlights is a rare 1920s Caron perfume urn, "Les Fontaines Baccarat," from the estate of dollmaker Madame Alexander and created by fine crystal retailer Baccarat, estimated to be valued at $100,000.

Other factices include a Parera Tentaction from 1927 that is one of two in the world, and a 1920s Gardenia bottle by Richard Hudnut, one of the first American perfumers, that is the only one of its kind in the world.

“Everything I have achieved has evolved from my passion for factices,” Gupta said in the news release.

Facticerie is now open to the public by appointment only. For more information, or to book an appointment, please visit Facticerie.com or contact [email protected].
