NORTH JERSEY, NJ — Gamers, cheese lovers and Paddington Bear! Oh my!

As Mardi Gras draws near, North Jersey is chock full of fun events and activities this weekend to get you into an ebullient spirit just in time for the holiday.

From a Fortnite tournament to a mac and cheese cook-off, to a Paddington Bear stage show, there is something for everyone to participate in and enjoy.

Saturday

North Brunswick's Fortnite Box Fights #9: Localhost, North Brunswick Township

Mac & Cheese Mayhem: Morristown National Guard Armory, Morristown

Local chefs and restaurants are cooking up variations of macaroni and cheese while competing for the "Best Mac in Town" award.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

February Train Show: New Jersey Hi-Railers, Paterson

Come see the world's largest three-rail O-gauge model train set that features as many as 20 trains operating at once on five miles (not scale miles) of track with a variety of steam, diesel, electric and subways running at any given time.

The show (the last one until October) runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Watch Paddington, the famous, accident-prone bear, as he makes his stage debut in this fun-filled comedy.

Mardi Gras Celebration with Thaddeus Exposé: Bickford Theatre at Morris Museum, Morristown

Thaddeus Exposé made his debut at Morris Museum last year and returns to bring New Orleans, Louisiana, back to Morristown for his second-annual Mardi Gras Celebration!

The extravaganza runs from 3 to 4 p.m.

With help from Bergen County Audubon Society, identify birds, count and submit them to help scientists better understand and protect birds around the world.
