Alleged Drunk Driver Drove Down Jersey Shore Boardwalk

BELMAR, NJ — A man who police suspect was driving drunk drove down the boardwalk Thursday morning in Belmar, report police in that town.

This happened at 9:16 a.m. Thursday: Belmar Police report the car was first headed south in the northbound lane of Ocean Avenue and then crashed through the railing on the boardwalk at 3rd and Ocean.

"The vehicle proceeded to travel down the boardwalk for approximately one block and drove off near 2nd and Ocean Avenue, where the vehicle stopped," said Belmar Police.

The accused driver is Jason Nagy, 44, of Avon, who was placed under arrest.

At some point, he also collided with another car and both drivers were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, said police.
