A woman was found dead after her car went into the Manasquan River, according to police.

A woman was found dead after her car went into the Manasquan River at Bogan's Basin Deep Sea Fishing Center on Sunday evening, Brielle police told Patch.

The name of the person, a 77-year-old woman from Wall, was not available as of Monday, and police just removed the vehicle around mid-day, according Brielle Police Chief Gary Olsen.

The incident happened around 9:28 p.m. when Brielle police responded to a black SUV that went into the Manasquan River and then landed underneath the Route 35 bridge, Olsen said.

Olsen said police were reviewing footage and discovered that alarms were triggered at Bogan's at 9:28 p.m., and that the same surveillance video showed a car on a dock before going into the water.

This is a developing story. Patch will have more information as it comes in.
