MANCHESTER, NJ — A scam letter threatening prosecution for a parking violation is being put on vehicles at shopping plazas in Manchester, Manchester police said, warning residents to not be fooled by it.

In a post on the department's Facebook page, Manchester Township police said the letter has been placed on vehicles in recent days and claims the person must appear in Manchester Township municipal court.

It claims the vehicle and license plate have been recorded for a violation of state law 39:4-138z, which is parking in a fire zone, and that drivers can view the video at the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, police said.
