Manhattan Mom Almost Moves To Maplewood, Writes About It

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Hundreds of New Yorkers have left Manhattan this year for more space, grass, and the possibility of on-site schooling in New Jersey — but some just can't bring themselves to leave. And those who were lured across the river with the promise of Jersey schools opening up were surprised to find that many school districts here shifted to remote learning just before the new year started.

In the latest New York newspaper piece on New Yorkers moving — or almost moving — to New Jersey amid coronavirus, writer Amy Klein, who chronicled her fertility struggles in a new book, is snatched from the gaping maw of the Garden State when she realizes she doesn't want to leave Manhattan, and besides, there are more apartments available there now.

Last month, the New York Post reported that A Thousand New Yorkers Moved To Hoboken During The Pandemic.
