DWI Patrols Out On Rt. 35, 36 For Super Bowl Sunday

All the towns that make up the regional Bayshore Task Force announced they will have extra patrols out this Sunday, Feb. 4.

ABERDEEN, NJ — All the towns that make up the regional Bayshore Task Force — which is comprised of police departments in Aberdeen, Atlantic Highlands, Hazlet, Holmdel, Highlands, Keyport, Keansburg, Matawan, Middletown and Union Beach — announced they will have extra patrols out this Sunday for the Super Bowl.

All those municipalities will be deploying officers as part of DWI saturation patrols this Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4. An alleged DWI just occurred Tuesday afternoon on Middletown Road in Holmdel, and a Holmdel woman had to be hospitalized.

Nine of the departments were awarded $11,000 grants each from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety for the patrols. The remainder will use drunk driving enforcement funds.

“We want to encourage folks to turn over their keys to a sober driver – our vote for game MVP – before they begin drinking,” said Keansburg Police Chief James Pigott. “Drunk driving can result in serious crashes, injuries or death. If you don’t have an MVP to make sure folks get home safely, consider other ride options.”
