Historic Mendham Twp. Estate May Become 53-Unit Housing Complex

Developer plans to create unique age-restricted center with various amenities, report says.

MENDHAM TWP., N.J. – Built in 1906 by sugar baron George Mosle, the Hillandale, later named the Mosle Estate, is one of Mendham Township’s most historic pieces of property.

And now it may become one of its most transformed.

According to newjerseyhills.com, developer Jeffrey Toia is just a few approvals away from transforming the estate’s buildings and acreage into a housing development for seniors that would include 23 townhouses, 24 flats, and six custom units.

The planning board gave Toia approval for subdivision in January and he is now waiting on approvals for septic tank setups from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

The estate is listed for $4,995,000 and Toia plans to close on the property once all approvals are gained, the report said.
