Reels Are The Real Deal!!
Reels are one of the go-to types of publicity for social media. They are short,
entertaining and they tell a story.&nbsp;Reels are a great way to advertise your art.&nbsp;Mark your calendar for our Zoom presentation on Wednesday, September 11 at 7PM.&nbsp;Anthony Russo, who has been doing our reels, will demonstrate how to use your&nbsp;cellphone or computer to make digital movies to help your art business on social&nbsp;media. 





This lesson is to help you in your social media develop your art business by teaching&nbsp;you how to make movies for your website, Facebook, or Instagram account. It is also&nbsp;great for creating a visual diary or for any other application that you think could help you&nbsp;in your business.

Artist Bio
My favorite time of day has always been when I am drawing or painting. Although I&nbsp;never formally studied art and working as accountant to support my family often made it&nbsp;hard to find the time, my love of art never faded. Now, I am able to spend as much&nbsp;time as I like creating and I find great joy in sharing prints of my paintings and even&nbsp;some of the originals.
My Inspirations I am most inspired by where I live, near the sea and in the sun on the New Jersey&nbsp;shore. Also, I love to ski in the mountains of Vermont, the Rockies and anywhere&nbsp;else I can find some snow. My love of travel has taken me far and wide and these&nbsp;experiences inspire me to capture memories of my trips in my paintings.
My Medium I find working in a single medium restricts my creativity so I use many different&nbsp;ones including acrylics, oils, pencil, pastels and ink, allowing each idea to&nbsp;manifest in its own individual style. Most of what you see on this site are prints&nbsp;of my original oil paintings. Come and get your Pablo Picasso on with a&nbsp;Linocut Class with Jo Guscott

The process of cutting and printing lino has the effect of simplifying your natural style. This often leads to the&nbsp;creation of very strong, simple, and graphic work, whether it be in the use of a limited palette or the&nbsp;illustrators' use of line and form.


During this two-hour workshop participants will complete a basic mono print linocut. Each participant will be&nbsp;given a cutting tool and a block and will learn the basics of carving along with the safety precautions of&nbsp;working with a sharp implement. Everyone should come with a basic pencil drawing on a 4x6 inch white paper&nbsp;or at least some idea of a design they would like to try. The design will be transferred to the block, carved,&nbsp;inked and printed. We will do about four of these prints on quality printing paper.

The linocut method was invented in the 1800's as it was a good method for making repeat patterns on&nbsp;wallpaper back in this era. This method became more popular with artists such as Pablo Picasso in the 1900's.

Artist Bio
New Jersey-based painter and printmaker Jo Guscott produces scenic outdoor images that appeal to the senses.&nbsp;With a rich artistic heritage, Guscott's upbringing was immersed in creativity, stemming from a family lineage&nbsp;of diverse talents, including a Washington Post cartoonist, accomplished painters, and graphic designers. This&nbsp;legacy shaped Guscott's own artistic journey from an early age. After three decades of teaching high school&nbsp;special education and nurturing a family, she transitioned to pursue her passion for art. She honed her skills&nbsp;through studio classes in oil painting at The Perkins Institute in Moorestown, NJ, and the Ocean County Artists&nbsp;Guild in Island Heights, NJ, supplementing her learning with online courses from LightScapes Studio .






Additionally, she shares her expertise by teaching printmaking at the Ocean County Artists Guild. Guscott's&nbsp;artworks grace the walls of local galleries near her home in Pine Beach, NJ, and she is proudly represented&nbsp;by ReFind Gallery in Bay Head, NJ. Actively involved in the artistic community, she is a member of the Toms&nbsp;River Artist Community, the Ocean County Artists Guild, Monmouth Arts, and the Audubon Artists in New&nbsp;York City. Her talents have garnered recognition, including several local awards and a notable second-place&nbsp;accolade in the graphics category at the 2023 Audubon Artists Juried show.
