Keansburg Getting A Massive New Luxury Apartment Complex

Get ready, Keansburg: Baypoint, 700 luxury apts., 45,000 sq. feet of restaurant, entertainment and retail, is slated to come to Carr Avenue.

KEANSBURG, NJ — A massive redevelopment project called "Baypoint" has been approved for the Keansburg waterfront.

As long as construction and funding move forward as planned, this project has the potential to radically transform the image of this scrappy little blue-collar town on the Raritan Bay.

Baypoint will be located on Carr Avenue in Keansburg, right overlooking the bay. Baypoint is part of the Keansburg redevelopment plan and located in the redevelopment district, both of which have already been approved by the borough of Keansburg.

Construction is supposed to start sometime this fall, according to this project announcement published Wednesday. You can also see a rendering there of how Baypoint will look.

The plan includes 700 luxury apartment units, more than 45,000 square feet of restaurant, entertainment and retail space and more than 1,000 parking spaces. You can see a website for Baypoint here: https://baypointnj.com/index.h...

No rental prices have been released. The project was just publicly announced Wednesday.

The developer, Sackman Enterprises, envisions Baypoint as not just a place for people to live year round, but even to attract summer renters to the Keansburg waterfront.

"The redevelopment/new construction project will deliver world-class housing and retail options to both year-round residents and visitors alike with a focus on enhancing the connectivity between the waterfront and the heart of Keansburg’s once thriving downtown," said Carter Sackman, president of Sackman Enterprises.

The developer also promises to improve the "streetscapes" along Carr and Beachway avenues, and connect them to a system of "open spaces, pedestrian pathways, trails and recreation areas."

"The design will provide easy access to the Bayshore’s natural beauty while developing a sense of community centered around Keansburg’s historic downtown," said the developer.

In fact, at 3 p.m. this Thursday, there will be an elaborate ground-breaking for Baypoint, held at the property site on Carr Avenue. The area's local Congressman, Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ6), among many other Monmouth County big names will be there.

Sackman has done similar redevelopment projects in Jersey City and Asbury Park, both formerly industrialized waterfronts that fell into neglect in the 1980s and 1990s, but have been reborn as hip, urban places to live. “Much like the redevelopment plan we implemented in Asbury Park, we intend to promote the arts, pay homage to the cultural history of Keansburg and strengthen its future,” said Sackman. "To do this, we will revitalize critical parcels located along Beachway and Carr Avenue to create a year-round destination point for Keansburg residents and visitors.”
