MILLBURN, NJ — Local officials from Millburn and Springfield will attend a groundbreaking on Tuesday afternoon with a developer who intends to turn the former Saks Fifth Avenue property on Millburn Avenue into 270 apartments and townhomes, according to a release.

Garden Homes Development will construct a development called The Metropolitan at the site, located in Springfield near the Millburn border. The location is set to include 233 apartments and 47 townhomes.

A portion of the project will be set aside to include affordable housing, said the release.
