3 Car Crimes Reported In Montclair: Burglaries, Attempted Theft

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police have released details about three recent crimes involving motor vehicles.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township:

August 8 (Llewellyn Road) – The victim said he was working at a residence on Llewellyn Road and left his work vehicle unattended for about 30 minutes. When he returned, he saw that his work bag was missing. The bag contained his wallet and cash, police said.

August 10 (South Willow Street) – Several vehicles parked in a South Willow Street parking garage were entered. Most of the ransacked cars were left unlocked. Police tracked a pair of stolen AirPods from one of the vehicles to an address in East Orange. Surveillance video shows the thefts took place around 2:40 a.m., and involved multiple men in their twenties, police said.

August 11 (Midland Avenue) – The victim reported that he parked his 2024 Alfa Romeo in front of a local residence. Witnesses said a man entered the vehicle and fled the scene. He abruptly stopped at Midland Avenue and Walnut Street, jumped out of the Alfa Romeo and entered a white sedan that was acting as a “follow car.” The suspect and the white sedan then drove away, police said.
