MONTCLAIR, NJ — The goods are very good, and Jersey is known for its produce, but you've got to show up to gather them at your local farmer's market around Montclair.

Local farmers markets, both outdoor and indoor, just keep growing in popularity. There is so much to draw us out. Local businesses can make a showing and it's a chance to sample something. Artists and artisans may be displaying their work, and there's often music.

Here are a few farmers markets around Montclair where you can shop for what's fresh and local.

Montclair Farmers Market is up and running at Walnut Street Station on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come out for the vendors and stay for the fun. Fresh meats, produce, and baked goods are available and a lot more. If you show up on June 4, you'll catch music from Nerd On Guitar. Find other events coming to the Montclair Farmers Market here.

You may have to drive a bit to find other farmers markets open, after some in the area closed through the pandemic.

South Orange Farmers Market is returning on Wednesday, June 1, from 2-7 p.m. at the Sloan Street parking lot. The market will be open every Wednesday through Oct. 26. There's a lot happening, so it may be worth the drive.
