New Lackawanna Plaza Plan Advances In Montclair After Council Vote

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The new redevelopment plan for Lackawanna Plaza is moving forward.

The proposal will now head back to the Montclair Planning Board, which has 45 days to offer its comments and recommendations to the council. The council will then have to vote for a final time on the plan – possibly in September or October.

“From the point of adoption, you can expect nine months to a year, depending on how quickly the planning board and developers can move, to create the highly detailed site plan,” Councilman Peter Yacobellis wrote in a post-meeting email.

“From there, firms are hired and the construction process begins,” Yacobellis said. “This will take years.”
