14th Annual Pumpkin Illumination Returns To Vail Mansion In Morris County

MORRISTOWN, NJ — The annual Pumpkin Illumination is back once again in the heart of Morristown and is set to spark up this year's spooky season at the Vail Mansion.

Presented by Morris County Arts, the event will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 22 on the lawn of the Vail Mansion, 10 South Street. According to event organizers, guests are encouraged to bring their carved pumpkins to light at dusk.

The event is free and open to the public.

Admission includes live music, a luminary parade led by Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, an art workshop with artist Dan Fenelon and an illuminated pumpkin display, according to the event website.

Here is the planned schedule:

  • 4 p.m.: The Sleepy Hollow Halloween Story by Kit’s Interactive Theatre
  • 5 p.m.: Arts & Crafts
  • 6 p.m.: Luminary Parade
  • 6:15 p.m.: Illuminate the Pumpkins *Bring your carved pumpkin to the reflecting pond in front of the Vail Mansion

The Sleepy Hollow Halloween Show as Kit's Interactive Theatre weaves the characters from Washington Irving's famous narrative into a fresh and fascinating drama. The show is intended to be eerie (but not scary), and it blends storytelling, music, dancing, audience interaction and a lot of fun, organizers said.

The rain date for the event is Oct. 29.
