MORRISTOWN, NJ — There are plenty of things going on around Morristown to celebrate the 2023 winter holidays.

Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights, starts at sundown on Dec. 7 and ends at nightfall on Dec. 15. Christmas, of course, is on Dec. 25, but you don’t have to wait to start taking in all the sights and sounds of the season.

  • Morristown will host the annual Hanukkah on the Green celebration on Dec. 13 from 5 to 6 p.m. The free event will feature the lighting of a menorah, donuts, hot drinks, live music, a raffle and gelt.

Christmas tree lights occur:

  • The Morristown Green Christmas Festival began with Santa's arrival on Nov. 26 at 5 p.m.Family activities, entertainment and Santa visits and photos will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout December until the 17th. This year, residents should look for a new centerpiece tree on the Green, as well as refurbished arches and new bows accenting the town wreaths.   • Jefferson Township Winter Wonderland: Starting on Dec. 2, at 4 p.m., attendees will be able to take a stroll down a winter wonderland full of holiday lights at Camp Jefferson, located at 81 Weldon Road. This family-friendly event will include shopping, activities, music and Christmas movies.
  • Home for the Holidays Festival: From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 2, enjoy a free fun-filled Holiday Festival inside the library and two churches next door on Main St. in Succasunna. There will be vendors, craftsmen, food and drink, music, dancers, free activities for children, Santa, Hanukkah story time, winter-themed crafts, and something for everyone.
  • Festival Of Trees: The 2023 festival runs from Dec. 2 through the 9th at Highlands Ridge Park, located at 100 North Road, in Chester. "We are all looking forward to next Saturday, December 2nd at 10 a.m., when the barn will come alive with Christmas lights and beautifully decorated trees," event organizers said.
