MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Two New Jersey towns are being recognized for their Christmas charm, and one of them is right here in Morris County.

A survey conducted by Mixbook consisted of 3,000 people to determine America’s 75 most “Christmassy” towns.

Morristown came in at number 64 on the list. The other New Jersey town included on the list was Cape May, which came in at number 53.

The ranking cited the annual Christmas Festival at the Morristown Green as one of its premier Christmas activities.

"This historic town transforms into a festive wonderland during the Christmas season. The centerpiece of the holiday festivities in Morristown is the historic Morristown Green, which becomes a spectacular display of lights and decorations, including a beautifully adorned Christmas tree," the photo book brand said.

For over a century, generations of residents and visitors have come to the heart of downtown Morristown to experience the magic of the holiday season.

It all started in 1913 with a small group of festive volunteers lighting a single star atop one tree on the Morristown Green.

Since then, this tradition has spread holiday cheer to countless families with the addition of a Santa House, holiday music and crafts, a vintage-style oversized rocking horse, ice sculpture demonstrations and free rides around the Green on a miniature electric trail.

This year, residents should look for a new centerpiece tree on the Green, as well as refurbished arches and new bows accenting the town wreaths. The Santa House has also been refurbished for the holidays this year.

The Mayo Performing Arts Center also adds to the festive spirit with seasonal shows and concerts for all to enjoy.

“We hope our guide inspires families to experience these wonderful destinations that celebrate the essence of Christmas. Visiting these festive towns provides a unique opportunity to create lasting memories, connect with loved ones, and celebrate the spirit of the season,” said Leslie Albertson, Director of Brand at Mixbook.
