MORRISTOWN, NJ — Organizers are gearing up for the 2024 Morris County St. Patrick's Day Parade and related festivities, for the yearly celebration of Irish heritage in honor of the patron saint of the Emerald Isle.

The 2024 parade will take place in Morristown on Saturday, March 9, at 12 p.m., stepping off from Town Hall at South Street and James Street, and ending at Morristown High School. Since 1979, the Morris County St. Patrick's Day Parade has been the largest in New Jersey, with more than 20 bands and more than 4,000 marchers.

This year's grand marshal is Jack Haren Jr., a Morris Plains resident.

The Morris County St. Patrick's Day Parade has been a long-cherished tradition for all residents, dating back to the winter of 1779-1780 in Jockey Hollow, Morristown.

The parade is totally self-funded, with no public funds being used. According to officials, it is completely sponsored by generous donations from businesses and individual sponsors, so there is no expense to taxpayers.

St. Patrick's Day is March 17, which falls on a Sunday this year.
