St. Patrick's Day Parade Returns To Streets Of Morristown This Weekend

Are you ready for revelry? The largest St. Patrick's Day parade in New Jersey kicks off Saturday.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — The streets of Morristown will be filled with dancing, music, and the colors of Ireland on Saturday as thousands of people gather for the Morris County St. Patrick's Day Parade.

This year's will take place on Saturday, March 9, at 12 p.m. — rain or shine. It steps off from Town Hall at South Street and James Street. The parade route proceeds along South Street, around the Green, and then along Washington Street before ending at Morristown High School.

There is some rain in the forecast for Saturday, and the predicted high is 49 degrees.

This year's grand marshal is Jack Haren Jr., a Morris Plains resident. There will also be limited-supply parade pins for purchase along the route for $5.

The Parade Committee will also be hosting a mass at Assumption Church that morning at 9:30 a.m. Parade-goers are also invited to participate in "Shamrock Chalking" on the street starting at 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of South Street and James Street.

Since 1979, the Morris County St. Patrick's Day Parade has been the largest in New Jersey, with more than 20 bands and more than 4,000 marchers.

After the parade, the new pet service Woofie's of Morristown will have a pop-up tent “pawty” around 1:30 p.m. at the Headquarters Plaza Pioneer Park (3 Speedwell Avenue, Morristown, NJ).

Woofie’s is offering free mini brush-outs for dogs and coupons for pet services that day, and giving out a prize for the best-dressed dog for St. Patrick’s Day as well as some other giveaways.
