Register now for the free workshop on Sept. 24 in Davidson's Mill Pond Park in South Brunswick.

Rutgers - As the growing season draws to a close, you may find that you have an abundance of herbs left over from the summer months. If you’re worried about your fresh herbs going to waste, join the Master Gardeners of Middlesex County for workshop next weekend, "Harvesting and Preserving Your Herbs."

This free workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Middlesex County EARTH Center located in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park at 42 Riva Ave. in South Brunswick.

Timing and technique are the keys to maximizing the harvest from your herb garden. This workshop will teach gardeners the best times and methods to harvest leaves, flowers, seeds and roots. Also discussed will be the art of preserving herbs to use in projects like herb salts and herb sugars and, weather permitting, participants will be given a tour of the EARTH Center’s Circle of Thyme Herb Garden.
