Young Man, 18, Lost Control, Caused Fatal Rt. 1 Crash: Prosecutor

An 18-year-old North Brunswick man lost control of his car headed south on Rt. 1, and collided with a pick-up headed north Wednesday:

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — The man killed in the two-car collision Wednesday morning on Rt. 1 north in New Brunswick has been identified as Dennis Frick, 65, of Freehold.

This is the crash that occurred at 7:08 a.m. on Rt. 1 north just south of the Goodkind Bridge: When police got there, they located an Infiniti had struck a Ford pick-up, killing the pick-up driver.

Frick was driving the Ford pick-up. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Infiniti was uninjured. The driver of the Infiniti was an 18-year-old male from North Brunswick.

No charges have been filed as of yet; the crash is still under investigation.

Police determined the Infiniti was driving southbound on Rt. 1 and lost control of the vehicle, crossing over the median and striking the pick-up, which was headed north on Rt. 1. News 12 reported the Infiniti landed on top of the pick-up.

This accident shut down Rt. 1 north for hours Wednesday, with all lanes of Rt. 1 not opening until well into the afternoon.

This investigation is being done by Officer Gliottone of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Alleva of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. Anyone with information or video footage is asked to call Officer Gliottone at 732-745-5005 or Detective Alleva at 732-745- 4011.
