Bergen County Chapter of NAACP Offers Student Tickets for Screening of 'Selma' on Jan. 31

The NAACP has reserved the Teaneck Cinema, located at 503 Cedar Lane, for the showing of the movie on Jan. 31.

The Bergen County Chapter of the NAACP, along with the National Coalition of 1001 Black Women, Inc., will be offering free tickets to the youth of Bergen County for a screening of the movie “Selma.”

“Selma” is directed by Ava DuVernay and stars David Oyelowo as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The movie chronicles King’s role in organizing and leading the historic civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery that led to the signing of the Voting Rights Act in 1965.

The NAACP has reserved the Teaneck Cinema, located at 503 Cedar Lane, for the showing of the movie on Jan. 31. The NAACP is also asking area churches and civic organizations to participate in this opportunity.

“Your support in this effort will inform our youth of the major contributions of the younger generation during the civil right era,” said the Bergen County Chapter of the NAACP. “Making a difference begins with those who can share our past.”
