Glaze Donuts, Mexican Restaurant Team Up For New Creations

Glaze is lending their classic yeast donut shells to Taqueria Los Gueros for 2 new dishes, one sweet, one savory.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — Glaze Donuts has teamed up with a North Jersey Mexican restaurant to create two new culinary creations, one sweet and one savory.

Glaze, famous for its Italian tricolor doughnuts, provided its classic yeast shells to Taqueria Los Gueros to make the Gringa and Guacadonut.

The Gringa is crispy pork served with pineapple, mozzarella, onions, and cilantro between one of Glaze's glazed yeast doughnut shells.

The Guacadonut has real avocado mixed into a sweet cream with milk and sugar that's filled into a Glaze chocolate-frosted yeast doughnut.

Both items will be available at Taqueria's North Jersey locations, including Englewood and Saddle Brook in Bergen County.

Glaze brought the modern doughnut trend to Bergen County when it opened in 2014. It features dozens of homemade varieties, including a variety of artisan flavors like the maple bacon, topped with maple frosting and chopped applewood smoked bacon, or the bananas foster, which is filled with Bavarian cream topped with cream, bananas, pecans, and caramel drizzle.

Owner Jule Hazou won the Judges' Choice Award at Donut Fest 2015 in New York City for Glaze's Cannoli doughnut.
