Juvenile 'Intentionally Sets' Fires In River Edge, Oradell: Police

ORADELL, NJ — An Oradell juvenile was arrested on a charge of arson in connection with fires that were set in River Edge and Oradell, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said in a Friday news release.

The juvenile was charged with second-degree aggravated arson, second-degree attempt to cause widespread injury, and the disorderly persons offense of criminal trespass, and was remanded to Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center, the prosecutor's office said.

The River Edge fire was set inside a garbage can on June 20 at Roosevelt Elementary School; the fire self-extinguished by the time police arrived, the office said.

The Oradell fires were set on Monday in multiple locations within the River Dell High School field house, which sustained heavy smoke damage, the office said.

An investigation revealed that the juvenile suspect had "intentionally set" the fires, the office said.
