New Milford Officials Say No To 'Boot Drives:' Report

It's a safety issue, officials said.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — Borough officials have said no to "boot drives," or fundraisers where people ask for donations from motorists, according to a report on NorthJersey.com.

The volunteer fire department asked for permission to allow members to collect money from motorists, according to the report.

The Borough Council voted against creating an ordinance and giving permission, citing safety concerns, according to the report.

Councilwoman Hedy Grant said in the report she was "concerned" about pedestrian safety and that police Chief Brian Clancy "was not happy with the idea."
