The new store is part of the Waterworks development being built by New Milford Redevelopment Associates LLC. It is expected to 'exacerbate' area traffic, Mayor Michael Putrino told NorthJersey.com.

The store is Inserra Supermarket's 24th ShopRite location.

It is the second ShopRite store to open in Bergen County this year. One opened in Wyckoff in January after Inserra Supermarkets battled with competitor Stop & Shop in court.

"We are committed to bringing incredible value, superior quality and first-class services to our customers," said Lawrence Inserra Jr., chairman and CEO of Inserra Supermakets. "Most importantly, we will continue to support our local community, civic causes and charities that fight hunger and improve lives for those in need."
