DUMONT, NJ — A person was hit and killed by a CSX freight train just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, on the railroad tracks near Columbia Avenue in Dumont, CSX spokesperson Sheriee Bowman said.

Dumont police responded and confirmed that the person sustained fatal injuries, Bowman said.

"CSX appreciates the swift response by local emergency personnel and extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragic incident," the company said.
